I felt something on my cheeks. tears. I don't know when they came out of my eyes. I wiped the back of my palms. Both uncles were looking at me.
“He calls you dogs” I said in a shaky voice. Still sad he is not here. I extend my hand to give a letter to them.
“Nini ke samne to aisa nai bol sakta tha.” dev huff.
“Sachme yaar” Rishi uncle said to me. Their eyes were teary too. They still laughed a little and I smiled. I last laughed when I was 11. Then everything stopped.
“I want to know everything. Tell me please” I said to them. They nodded their heads in agreement. They started telling me.
—-------------------------------------------------------------
“You fill up this form” she handed me a form. She smiled at me. I just took it and went in cafetaria. like how these people can smile. It’s annoying.
I sat on a chair tapping a pen in my hand. I'm still thinking about what career I should choose. Tapping on the table. When I thought I saw a familiar face. I looked up again. And saw that face.
My heartbeat stopped for a second. Time slowed. Then my heartbeat started to increase. Fast so fast it can give competition to bullet trains.
It was him. Bench guy. After so many years.
He was walking when he suddenly stopped in his way. He narrowed his eyebrows. His side profile was showing but still i can see his little confused face.
Then my heart increased again and he turned to me. His eyes came to me. his eyes looked in mine. goosebump raised in my body.
Then someone called him from behind. He turned and started walking again. He turned back to look at me. Like really. I’m wearing a mask. He can't recognise me. He won't remember me.I took a look around me. There was no one here. He was looking at me.
Did he remember me?. He went into the room. And disappeared. And I don't know why. I am following him. It was like something was pulling me to him. My feet automatically move towards the room.
I went inside. It was an assembly. There was a small event going on there. I took the last seat. In darkness. no one can see her. but she can see everything and everyone. Students and staff were sitting there.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome our chief guest and former student of this college and India's biggest business man.” The announcer was blabbering about him. God knows who he was. He seems to have a big personality.
“Give a round of applause to Akaay Desmukh” The announcer said. and someone walked from the corner of the stage. Time slowed again. It was him again.
He was walking towards the announcer. Smiling. He has a killer smile. seems like he is hiding something. He stops in the middle of the stage. He shook hands with the announcer. He took the microphone from him. And turned toward the audience.
My eyes got stuck on him. Something was in him making me drawn to him. He looked so handsome.tall like 6 feet. Bulky with olive skin. No beard on his face, only a smile. Wearing black leather jacket , white t-shirt and blue jeans.
I felt something which i never. he seems the cure of my poisonous life. Then took the microphone near his mouth and let out his words. My breath caught in my throat.
“Hello . I am Akaay Desmukh. Naam to suna hi hoga…” he said in his deep voice. People were laughing at his jokes. My ears feel blessed. He was speaking and the world faded. It felt like it was only me and him in this room. He talks but feels like he is singing a song.
Then his eyes came to me. Electricity runs in my blood. He was looking into my eyes. He knows I'm here in the dark. I froze in my seat. Then he smirked. He was smirking at me. mocking me like I caught you. Girl.
I raised my eyebrows. and then he gave a cheeky smile. Then a miracle happened. For a second I couldn't control. My smile. It came automatically . What is happening to me? I need a doctor. I guess.
He couldn't see me. Still he made me smile. He talked to me without knowing me, without seeing me. How? and
why? Does he feel that too? What did I feel?
